Inside Idol - 290905

Wow... I've just seen tonight's Inside Idol, and this Sunday's show is gonna be massive! It's the contestant's choice week, and remember last year when Anthony sings "The Prayer"? Hopefully some of the magic is gonna happen again :)

The song choices are:
James - don't know what's the song, and don't really care, and he sounded just so-so in rehearsal
Kate - Not That Kind by Anastacia. I think her voice IS somewhat like Anastacia, so it would be good for her
Emily - Hero by Mariah Carey. Wow.... very challenging choice. Should be good, but in rehearsals she's back to belting out the notes, so I don't know.... hopefully she can reach the big high note.
Anne - Independent Woman by Destiny's Child. Yay.... so happy with her song choice..... I really do think she's like Beyonce in so many ways..... and this choice is very good for her
Milly - see James above
Roxane - The Voice Within by Christina Aguilera... I don't think this song suits her.... and as usual she goes to that annoying pitch
Dan England - To Be With You (i forgot who sings this song - is it Firehouse?). Anyway it is perfect for him. I think I'm starting to like him.... well OK he can be Top 3 haha.
Lee - Holiday by Green Day. Well, the style suits him, but his vocal range is really limited.... I mean, this song doesn't really have big range, and he's already struggling
Daniel Spillane - don't know what's the song.... it's a ballad, and he sounded good during rehearsals, so we'll see

Laura OUT and new music review

Hi all.... just wanna let you all know the good news.... Laura Gisarra is officially out of the competition haha.... am I evil or what?

Anyway these few days I got some new song (well, most of them are old but I've just know them now) and here's my review

1. Quando Quando Quandy by Michael Buble and Nelly Furtado
A classic song... nice touches by Nelly F. Her voice is so unique and recognizable. Good song to play when you're going to bed.

2. Shine by Shannon Noll
This guy is the runner up in the first series of Australian Idol. I didn't like his previous songs, but this one's ok, for now. It's quite catchy, but I predict that I'll get bored of it very soon.

3. From Paris to Berlin by Infernal
This is one of those songs that you just can't get out of your head for a while. It is currently THE number one clubbing anthem in Australia.... you hear it everywhere you go. Very catchy, very dance-y. I like..... haha

4. Songs from Love Actually soundtrack
One of my most favorite movie of all time....
Well, I got these songs because my friend, Marcos requested it. I didn't realise that this movie has so many good songs in it..... the love theme is very nice.... makes you all warm and fuzzy on the inside, if you know what i mean. For a complete listing of the tracks, just search it in amazon.com :)

OK then.... till the next posting.

Australian Idol Top 10 - Rock Supergroups

OK, so the theme tonight is "Rock Supergroups"..... not really my cup of tea, but overall quite enjoyable.

First up is Dan England with Queen's "We Will Rock You". Way too safe.... as I said before, he sings well, but nothing special.

Second is Laura Gisarra..... hooray! I think Laura WILL surely leave tomorrow.... she did a really horrible rendition of a song by Silverchair called "Greatest View". The song was sung as part of the medley during last year's finale and it was great then.... but tonight, wow, she really sucks. And the judges agreed too.... so fingers crossed, she'll be gone tomorrow haha.

Next is Milly Edwards with Queen's "Somebody To Love". She did OK, but Courtney did this song last year and he was better. And the judges didn't like her stage presence. I agree.

Next up... Lee Harding with "Roxane" by The Police. Well, I've heard this song before, but I never really get it. Tonight he did a very good punk rock arrangement with the song... totally suits his style. I still don't think that the song is great, but it's definitely better than the original version.

Now comes the real Roxane Lebrasse. She sang "We Are The Champions". I think she did OK.... not so annoying tonight... but Mark totally hates it... I don't know why. He said that Roxane's not a rock chick.... well, d'uh...

After that comes the controversial Anne Robertson. She did U2's "Where The Streets Have No Name". I kinda enjoyed it.... it was her own interpretation of the song.... she can't sing anything badly, in my opinion. Unfortunately, Mark kinda have a problem with that... and it started the battle with Kyle..... for details, please contact me. It's more fun telling it with sound effect :)

Daniel Spillane did AC/DC's "TNT" and it was OK..... the judges say that he looks too nice to sing that kind of song.... well, he does.

Kate Dearaugo sang "I Want It All" by Queen. As usual, I think that she didn't give it her all.... and the judges think exactly the same thing. Kyle was nasty tonight, commenting on her flabby arms... well, look at Casey Donovan there, Kyle!

Next is James Kannis. He did "Layla" by Eric Clapton. I never heard of the song before... didn't really like it... I think it's quite boring and nothing special.

Last but certainly not least is Emily Williams. She's chosen "Bohemian Rhapsody" tonight. Well, like "Roxane", I never get this song. I always think that this song is a complete mumbo jumbo... it's like bits and pieces of everything thrown in together. No exception tonight.... it was weird, but as usual her vocals were superb. So overall I still like her :)

So, predictions for tomorrow's bottom 3: Milly, James, and Laura (in that order). We'll see what happens tomorrow.

Australian Idol - 60s night

Hello all.... I don't know why but I didn't really enjoy tonight's show.... I just feel everybody kinda go wrong in some places tonight.....

1. Kate DeAraugo.... just OK... i think she really needs to improve her style when she's singing..... it looks like she didn't really give it all she's got or something...
2. Natalie Zahra... didn't remember a thing about the performance
3. Dan England... OK lah.... better than the rest, but nothing compared to Clay's version
4. Anne..... vocally great (as usual), but her facial expression looks like she's going to cry.... didn't quite get the song either
5. James.... same thing. He's getting better, but not quite there yet for me
6. Emily... definitely top 2 tonight in my books. But still not as powerful as Kelly (Clarkson)
7. Roxane... i enjoyed it, but the Dixie Chicks version is still better. The judges didn't like it though....
8. Daniel Spillane... wow, totally sucks tonight. Totally change my perception of him haha. He won't make it much longer.
9. Laura.... as Mark said: "I think she's pretty much in tune all the way tonight". But still, I want her to go tomorrow.
10. Lee.... I totally agree with the judges... he is smart cos he always chooses songs that are totally not challenging vocally
11. Milly..... love love her looks... new hair but still as funky as ever.... she did OK today, I guess

That's it. Don't really care who goes tomorrow as long as it's not Anne or Emily.

On a completely different subject.... damn Arnott's! Why do you have to invent the new TimTam Balls? It is so damn good and addictive...... evil evil Arnott's haha. Hmm....I just had an interesting thought.... isn't ci Lanny work in Arnott's product development? Well, in that case, I should blame her if I get fat again hahaha.

OK then... see you all tomorrow.

Australian Idol double verdict

So, the first two to go tonight is Tarni and Chris. Well, I don't really like both so whatever. But once again, Laura escaped the elimination.... and she's not even bottom 3! Bottom 3 was Milly.

On another note, the TOP 13 are actually will be releasing a new single called "Ready" by next week. At first impression, I kinda liked it, but I don't remember how it is now haha. I'm expecting it to be a hit here in Australia. They also recorded the songs that they sung last night, and it will be on the CD as well. Can't wait for the full version of Anne's and Roxane's songs :)

OK, see you Thursday after Inside Idol.

Australian Idol Top 13

OK, I think I might use this page to give you all some quick review about australian idol.... tonight is the first live performance... top 13. I won't bore you with the history why there are 13 people up here tonight. I'm sure y'all can find out yourself.

Before we begin, here are the song choices for tonight... oh the theme is "Australian Music".
Anne Robertson - I Don't Want To Be With Nobody But You by Absent Friends
Chris Luder - Throw Your Arms Around Me by Hunters & Collectors
Dan England - Cry In Shame by Johnny Diesel & The Injectors
Daniel Spillane - Tucker's Daughter by Ian Moss
Emily Williams - Buses & Trains by Bachelor Girl
James Kannis - The Day You Went Away by Wendy Matthews
Kate DeAraugo - Please Don't Ask Me by John Farnham
Laura Gissara - You're My World by Daryl Braithwaite
Lee Harding - Holy Grail by Hunters & Collectors
Milly Edwards - Playing To Win by John Farnham
Natalie Zahra - Absolutely Everybody by Vanessa Amorosi
Roxane LeBrasse - Forever by Cold Chisel
Tarni Stephens - I've Got You (On My Mind) by Powderfinger

First up tonight is Tarni Stephens.... didn't really leave an impression to me.... love her looks, very unique, but I don't think she can win this competition.

Second is the b***h Laura Gissara..... well, she actually did better then I expected tonight, but she still have too many wrong notes. I don't know, I just don't like her in general.

Next is Daniel Spillane... I totally love this guy.... the first time I hear him is from the lockdown episode, and he just blew me away. He screwed up in the top 30, but fortunately came back for the wildcards, and here he is now. Tonight he is good, singing in lower notes than his usual style, but I like this Daniel way better than "high pitch" Daniel. So, go Daniel :)

Next... Roxane...... cute giggly little Roxie.... well, she got great personality, and normally I find her voice a bit annoying, but tonight she did good.... I love the performance.

Then came Emily Williams. OMG, thank GOD for Emily. I mean, her voice is just fantastic. Ever since I hear her sing "Make It Happen" in the top 30, I'm just amazed every time she sings. The only thing I'm not crazy about her is her looks, but hey, if Fantasia can win American Idol, why can't she? If voting is free, I'll definitely vote for her haha..... so blame Telstra if she didn't get through to finals.

After that is Milly Edwards. She is just so cute, with her funky hair... usually I like her, though I never have like her song choices. Tonight is exactly the opposite.... love the song, but they way she sang it, it's just a bit weird for me, especially when she tried to "scream" out the notes.

Next is Lee Harding.... ewww.... totally hate his looks and style.... he got just an OK voice.... not outstanding. So no further comment.

Chris Luder..... very very ewww.... 'nuff said. I want him to go tomorrow.... along with Laura.

Natalie Zahra.... she tried to sing Vanessa Amorosi.... I think she should pick easier song.... I didn't like her interpretation of the song.... probably cos the original is so great. I don't hate her, but I don't love her either.... she's at the middle of the pack, think.

Kate Dearaugo... she's playing it way too safe tonight..... didn't show her vocals.... but I think she'll survive for now.

James Kannis.... I don't know... sometimes I really like him, but sometimes he just annoys me... and tonight it's more to the annoying side.

Anne Robertson... wow wow wow..... one of the best performance of the night.... she is just so Beyonce tonight, with the hair, the clothes, the moves, and the voice. Totally love her. Definitely in my Top 3.

Last stop is Dan England... he got a good voice, but I think his performances are always the same, and it didn't really appeal to me, so I'm just neutral with him.

Predictions for tomorrow.... I would really like it to be Chris and Laura. (and Lee.... can we have a triple eviction? haha). I'll post again tomorrow to let you know how it goes.

New Music Review - 080905

This page is dedicated to reviewing new music that I listen to..... so here we go...

First stop this week is "Sunshine" by the lovely Ricki-Lee Coulter. For those of you who don't know who she is, she was a finalist in Australian Idol 2..... should've been a top 2 finalist in my opinion, but unfortunately she only made it to top 7 because of one mistake she made. Anyway, about this song... it's a nice, pop, catchy song..... wasn't really mad about it at first, but now after I listen to it more, I totally love it haha. What can I say? I'm a sucker for sweet catchy pop songs :)

Next stop is "My Humps" by the Black Eyed Peas (BEP). Never heard of this song before... I got it just because it's in the top 10 most downloaded songs in iTunes Music Store. The song is very very BEP, very very RnB..... and Fergie actually sings in this song! It's one of those songs that you just can't get out of your head for some time haha. And the lyrics are pretty nasty.... worth listening just to make you smile.

Another song that I got today is.... believe it or not people..... Ricky Martin is back..... the song is called "I Don't Care". He collaborated with Amerie and Fat Joe on this one. After listening to that..... wow, his voice is really just so-so, nothing special haha. And I feel that the song is more Amerie than Ricky Martin. There's one verse that she sung, and after listening to Ricky's voice just before that, her voice just sounded so much better (am I mean or what?). Overall, it's a dance-y song, have a little of middle eastern influence on it (like so many other songs nowadays).

Last entry this time round is "I am Ready For Love" by India Arie. Well, it's not actually a new song, but I just got it a few days ago. I downloaded it because one of the wildcards finalist in Australian Idol 3 sung it, and I was really touched by this song. The guy didn't get through, but I thought he did a wonderful performance. It's a slow and haunting song.... good to listen to when you are feeling blue. The lyrics are just beautiful.

OK guys.... that's all for now. See y'all next time!
